Paper / cardboard is usually produced from recycled paper or wood, which is a renewable resource. Paper is biodegradable and recyclable up to approx. 7 times. Recycled paper, PEFC or FSC certified paper is clearly preferable from an environmental point of view.

Bamboo is an extremely sustainable material, and one of the fastest growing plants in the world, which means rapid regeneration when harvested. Bamboo is grown without pesticides or artificial fertilizers and, like other natural products, functions as a CO2 depot throughout the products lifetime. rPET (recycled polyethylene) is a food-grade recyclable plastic that is typically made from recycled water bottles. rPET is – despite its fossil origin – a sustainable material. rPET has an extremely high carbon content, and therefore functions as an effective carbon depot throughout the lifespan of the product and recycled products. If plastic is not recycled, it will either break down into CO2 and contribute to the greenhouse effect, or end up as polluting waste. For every tonne of recycled plastic, 3.8 barrels of oil are saved.
